Kenya national seminar on census data analysis

The Kenya Seminar on Census Data Analysis is scheduled to be held from 19 to 22 March 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya. The main objective of the national seminar is to provide an opportunity for the staff member of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics to further analyze data from the 2009 population and housing census of Kenya on selected topics. The ultimate objective is to promote greater analysis and dissemination of the data collected from the Kenya 2009 census.
The national seminar will cover the following topics: (i) population projections at sub-national and sectoral level, (ii) analysis of data on international migration, and (iii) analysis of data on gender issues.
After the seminar, participants are expected to produce thematic analytical reports, based on analyses generated during the seminar.
National seminar on census data analysis

The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in collaboration with the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) will organize a National Seminar on Census Data Analysis in the context of the 2010 World Programme for Population and Housing Censuses. The purpose of the Seminar is to assist the LISGIS on undertaking in-depth analysis of census data to produce an analytical report on the selected topics. The national seminar will cover the following topics: (i) youth and internal migration and (ii) employment and education. During the national seminar, the staff of LISGIS will attend the lectures on the topics of focus and engage in preliminary data analyses of 2008 census data. After the seminar, participants are expected to produce thematic analytical reports, based on analyses generated during the seminar.
Burkina Faso national seminar on census data analysis

The Burkina Faso National Seminar on Census Data Analysis is scheduled to be held from 14 to 16 November in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The main objective of the national seminar is to provide an opportunity for the staff member of the Burkina Faso Institut National de la Statistique et de la Démographie to further analyze data from the 2006 population and housing census of Burkina Faso on selected topics. The ultimate objective is to promote greater analysis and dissemination of the data collected from the 2006 census. The national seminar will cover the following topics: (i) population projections at municipal level, (ii) analysis of data on migration, and (iii) analysis of data on educational characteristics. After the seminar, participants are expected to produce thematic analytical reports, based on analyses generated during the seminar.
Regional seminar on census data dissemination and spatial analysis for Latin American countries

The Regional Seminar, which is being organized by UNSD in collaboration with ECLAC and UNFPA, will provide a forum for sharing national practices and experiences in the dissemination and use of census data. The Seminar will aid in taking stock of national capacities and challenges for meeting the increasing requirements of census data users as well as review emerging trends, innovative approaches and technological tools employed in the dissemination of census data. Furthermore, the Seminar is expected to help in identifying good practices and lessons learned in the dissemination and analysis of census data.

Seminar on the in-depth analysis of Ethiopia's 2007 population and housing census

In many countries, the voluminous data collected through censuses is only partially analysed and disseminated, and often late, resulting in its underutilization. To address this challenge, UNSD in collaboration with the Italian Government has initiated a project to strengthen national capacity to analyse, present and disseminate census data in selected developing countries, Ethiopia being one. Based on a needs assessment mission launched by UNSD, the Central Statistical Authority (CSA) of Ethiopia has identified four areas for in-depth analysis: Fertility, mortality, housing, and the situation of the elderly. The national seminar is preparatory work for the preparation of monographs on the identified topics and in the process build capacity among CSA’s census analyses teams tasked with the preparation of analytical reports through on-the-job knowledge transfer. The final outputs are expected to be useful for effective development planning and monitoring population and socio-economic trends.

The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), is organizing the Regional Seminar on Census Data Dissemination and Spatial Analysis in the context of the 2010 World Programme for Population and Housing Censuses.
The purpose of the Seminar is to provide a forum for sharing national practices and experiences in the dissemination and use of census data. The Seminar will review emerging trends, innovative approaches and technological tools employed in the dissemination of census data. The Seminar is expected to provide a basis for assessing existing national dissemination strategies as well as technologies used by national statistical offices. It will also aid in taking stock of national capacities and challenges for meeting the increasing requirements of census data users. Furthermore, the Seminar is expected to help in identifying good practices and lessons learned in the dissemination and analysis of census data. The ideas generated by the discussion and the recommendations made by participants will contribute towards the drafting of an international guideline for effective dissemination and utilization of census data.
Malawi national seminar on census data analysis

The Malawi National Seminar on Census Data Analysis is scheduled to be held from 19 to 22 July in Malawi. The main objective of the national seminar is to provide an opportunity for the staff member of the Malawi National Statistical Office in collaboration with the University of Malawi Population Studies Centre, to further collaborate on the analysis of data from the 2008 census of Malawi on selected topics. The national seminar will cover the following topics: (i) fertility and nuptiality from a gender perspective; (ii) fertility indices based on data from the 2008 census; (iii) measures of nuptiality based on data from the 2008 census: and (iv) and use of the CensusInfo software for data presentation and dissemination. After the seminar, participants are expected to produce thematic analytical reports, based on analyses generated during the seminar.
Egypt national seminar on census data analysis

Egypt National Seminar on Census Data Analysis is scheduled to be held from 17 to 19 May in Cairo, Egypt. The main objective of the seminar is to provide an opportunity for the staff member of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in collaboration with the Cairo Demographic Center and Cairo University, to further collaborate on the analysis of data from the 2006 census Egypt on selected topics. The seminar will cover an overview of calculation of the wealth index; gender analysis; and use of the CensusInfo software for data presentation and dissemination. After the seminar, participants are expected to produce thematic analytical reports, based on analyses generated during the seminar.
